About the Creative Designer, Stella Mazza

Innovative, Alluring, Spellbinding, Evocative

These words encompass the vision Stella Mazza imagined when masterminding her collection.

Amongst the mild setting of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, a city not quite associated with flare, glamor, or exuberance, Stella developed a penchant for devising artwork that was just that. Originally starting with the medium of fresh flowers as a florist at a very young age, her unique vision soon grew bored of the ordinary and grew to include crystal beaded bouquets, metal and crystal jewelery, and body chain jewelery. However the primary mass of her time was spent running the highly coveted “Stella’s Bridal Salon” in which she owned for just over eighteen years. The growth of the salon as a business expanded correspondingly with her desire to tap into her creative being, and finally in 2002 Stella was forced to make the ultimate compromise. It was at that point she decided to hand over ownership of the salon and spend her time fulfilling her undeniable creative passion, and devote more time to her family which grew by one more in 2002.

However, in 2003 an unforeseen obstacle was looming on the horizon to add to her agenda of mothering three, and being an artist. Just before unleashing her creative prowess amongst the world, an illness intervened and initially put her dream on hold. She was officially diagnosed with Stage two breast cancer. Naturally the prognosis frightened and hindered her and left her no choice but to reconsider her dream, and what she would do with what could possibly be her last little while on earth. Again, forced to make a compromise, she realized the most effective cure was to design and create. Between chemotherapy treatments she mustered up the little energy she had to birth these works of art day after day, and hone her skills into uncharted territory for herself. All the while setting the ultimate example of courage and bravery for her three children, and husband to witness. Not a year later she was on the road to full recovery, and forced her illness to succumb to her, and used it as inspiration to trailblaze into a new realm of being. She started a new life as a new person in her early forties. She became a fixture at local charities such as the Children’s Wish Foundation, and devoted much time to an initiative event she created called “Princess for a Day”. Being on the Board of Directors for the World Conference on Breast Cancer, and passionately initiating Stellas Cup for the Cure, it is through these means in which she fulfills her passion for supporting breast cancer awareness and research.

The list of Stella’s post-cancer achievements doesn’t end there. In 2007 and 2008 she garnered two consecutive awards for her designs in two different “Swarovski Crystalized Elements” competitions. Out of the nearly 300 participants from around the world, for each year she secured 5th place in Tucson, Arizona and then went on to achieve 3rd place in New York City, 2008 taking home a gorgeous Swarovski crystal award that now posits proudly amongst her works of art in her Corydon studio gallery.

Now an Award Winning Designer, and proud “Women of Distinction” nominee, she is setting out to make her creations available for all women to enjoy. While she’s proud to see a gallery full of her artwork, she is most proud when they adorn a satisfied customer. She anticipates to present inimitable women with creative alternatives to traditional jewelery styles that she feels are becoming pedestrian, or unimaginative with time. When Stella goes about composing a new design, she forces herself to let go of tried and true or traditional techniques to guarantee a truly original, unique alternative to the passé. Above all, KaTonGiovi designs is a presentation that appeals to a women’s desire for all things beautiful.
